Miller Shines at Draft Combine
Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com compiled a list of a dozen winners and losers after the second day of the NBA Draft Combine. Good news? No Kentucky players were on the losers side. Better news? Darius Miller made the #8 spot of the winners so far. Here’s what he had to say about Miller:
8) Darius Miller - I admit I pegged Miller as a future overseas guy prior to the year, but he’s progressed, matured and developed. Miller showed he can do it all at Kentucky — and did it again in front of all the NBA guys. He made shots from deep, provided consistent effort and also got after it on the defensive end. He’s likely the key to UK getting a record-setting six guys into the first round.
Since the Combine has become less attractive to the elite players most likely to go in the top five, guys like Miller, Lamb, and Teague have the best opportunity to shine and increase their draft stock. It’s great to hear that Miller is making a splash- personally, I would take him before I’d take Lamb in the draft. He’s got great length and solid ball-handling skills, can defend four positions, and has the iceman mentality to steady a team. Hopefully the scouts have liked what they’ve seen. Heartbroken that I’m not in Chicago the one weekend all the former UK players are- but hey, it’s wedding season in the Bluegrass. @KristenGeilKSR
