UK Men’s Soccer 2012 Schedule is Released
The UK Men’s soccer team has released their 2012 schedule. First-year head coach Johan Cedergren has scheduled eight games at the UK soccer complex and nine games against teams that made the 2011 NCAA Tournament, with the season opener at Dayton taking place on August 26th at 5 pm. The first home game will be on September 7 at 7 pm when UK hosts the UK Invitational, facing off against St. Joe’s. The Cats will play in-state rival Louisville on September 14 at 7 pm and are coming off a win during a spring exhibition game. The team returns Matt Lodge and Tyler Riggs are their two leading scorers.
Cedergren was hired in December from his position as assistant coach at Dartmouth, where he helped take the program to the next level by guiding the team to five straight NCAA tournament appearances. He worked with mostly midfielders and forwards at Dartmouth and was a former All-Conference USA player at Cincinnati. In his time as head coach so far, he signed three standout players to assist the Cats, who went 9-9-2 last year.
